Special Circumstances[]

Marc-Andrè Fleury: Fleury was drafted from the Pittsburgh Penguins by the Las Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 expansion draft.

Pascal Dupuis: Because of his medical condition, Dupuis has been placed on long-time injured reserve (LTIR) for the remainder of his contract with the Penguins. This means Dupuis is officially a member of the team but unable to play. The LTIR status means that his contract does not count under the Cap. Dupuis' contract comes off the books after the 2016-2017 season.[3]

Rob Scuderi: Scuderi was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday 14 December 2015 in exchange for Trevor Daley. Pittsburgh retained $2,250,000 on the deal to be spread over two seasons. The Penguins will pay Scuderi $1,125,000 in 2016-2017 before his contract comes off the books.[4]

While no longer a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Fleury was until June 2017, the longest-tenured active Penguins player on the roster, and the only remaining player from Sidney Crosby's rookie year. He was an important and beloved figured on the team and the franchise goalie for almost 13 years.
